VirtualisationVirtualisation is a proven software technology that makes it possible to run multiple operating systems and applications on the same server at the same time.
It’s transforming the IT landscape and fundamentally changing the way that people utilise technology, providing efficiencies and capabilities that just aren’t possible when constrained within a physical world.
Principality IT works with businesses to help them implement a server virtualisation strategy and stay ahead of the game.
Server virtualisation has been around now for more than a decade, yet many in the industry still consider it a new technology and are not taking full advantage of what it could bring to their business.
What are the benefits of virtualisation?
As a business, your data is likely to be your most important asset so keep it safe.
We offer a Tier 3 data centre in our private cloud, ensuring your data is safe and secure.
This removes the need for you to run a room full of servers, incurring the high capital costs of owning hardware and software. We deliver your server systems, storage network and operating systems.
Cloud services are made available to users on demand via the Internet from a cloud computing provider’s servers, as opposed to being provided from a company’s own on-premises servers.
There are two types:
Public cloud services are provided by a number of companies, such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft, but you are more vulnerable to cyber attacks and you can never be sure where they are keeping your data. It could be anywhere in the world or even being made available to security services and used for data mining. As a UK business, it is illegal to hold your private and personal client information outside of Europe so you must know where your data is being stored. Don’t take the risk.
Private cloud services: Principality IT provides private cloud services to business throughout the UK from our secure Tier 3 data centre just outside Cardiff and we offer a full consultation and solution design service to your requirements.
Whether you need a Standard Hosted Service, High Availability Service or Complete System Redundancy, our skilled engineers and system architect will work with you to determine the infrastructure and resources you require and the level of support needed.
Our offering is different because we connect your office to the data centre with a dedicated layer 2 EAD line for security. Your internet access is also via the data centre so that your services can be accessed over the internet from anywhere, by any device, using our managed hosted VPN which enables management of group policy objects for remote clients. for terms of our hosting service, please see our TOS>policy.
Principality IT offer a co-located private cloud where we can host your physical servers in our secure data centre and link your office to your servers with a secure dedicated EAD leased line. This keeps your data safe and secure while keeping you in charge of everything.
Principality IT utilises the full suite of enterprise VMware features, including vMotion and DRS, to deliver 100% availability across the entire virtualised IT environment, without the cost and complexity of failover solutions tied to either operating systems or specific applications. Principality IT offers a host of different replication services where you data can be replicated in multiple data centres for added security.
Principality IT offers a complete backup service using some of the most sophisticated backup software on the market. As standard we backup all your serves and hold 14 versions but we can hold as many versions as your business requires.
We offer an archiving service structured to your individual requirements.
Principality Leased LinesPrincipality IT specialise in Private Cloud hosting enabling your business to be confident in moving totally to a private cloud solution, and have provided hosting services since 2003 and now operate from a Data Centre just outside Cardiff South Wales. With in-house skills in virtualisation, server and network monitoring, supporting LINUX and Microsoft operating systems as one of the few Microsoft Gold partners in South Wales we can provide a full support and management service.
As partners in the LINX exchange in Cardiff we can now offer high speed internet connectivity to business in South Wales and Southern England including London and surrounding areas at affordable prices so they can take advantage of the private cloud service we offer to business. .
In general leased lines are a dedicated private connection to the internet or cloud services which is uncontended and is subject to strict SLA.
Ideal for connectivity from 10Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s, EAD offers a highly effective method of providing point to point links between sites or to a Data Centre. EAD is also a layer 3 line capable of advanced configuration to use hosted and cloud services. Unfortunately these lines always attract an installation cost.
EFM provides a cost effective alternative to other traditional leased line services for up to 20 users. EFM utilises existing copper line plant to provide leased line access speeds up to 35Mbps.
An EAD layer 2 point to point data line is a secure leased line between locations sometimes known as a private or data line in the UK. A layer 2 line can carry all necessary security protocols such as vpn`s etc which a standard leased line cannot. These lines are used to connect our clients offices to our private cloud to maintain security.

Network Performance OptimizationNetwork performance optimisation is the implementation of several performance strategies within a company’s network to provide enhanced performance, accessibility and an increase in functionality. This can be achieved by software and hardware optimisation on local or remote company networks and individual servers and across single or multiple sites.
Principality IT is experienced in creating performance optimised networks that maintain efficient access and network operability to allow them to sustain continual availability of company resources, such as business-critical information and applications.
With a performance optimised network, companies can increase the flexibility and scalability of their networks. Processes such as server consolidation allow businesses to use the existing hardware supporting a network in a more efficient manner, while at the same time decreasing maintenance time and costs on upkeep of under-utilized machines.
Server virtualisation is another way to help companies decrease the need for additional hardware by allowing for the use of different operating systems and applications from a single server. Along with these proactive strategies, implementing effective security also plays a large part in network optimisation.
Protecting against potentially harmful traffic is a way to keep a system healthy and functioning at maximum efficiency.

Network ArchitectureA network architecture is a blueprint of the complete computer communication network, which provides a framework and technology foundation for designing, building and managing a communication network with a layered structure.
Layering is a modern network design principle which divides the communication tasks into a number of smaller parts, each part accomplishing a particular sub-task and interacting with the other parts in a small number of well-defined ways. Layering allows the parts of a communication to be designed, keeping each design relatively simple.
Principality IT has over a decade of experience in designing and implementing networks from small businesses to enterprise networks.
If a network architecture diagram is open, no single vendor owns the technology and controls its definition and development. Anyone is free to design hardware and software based on the network architecture.
The TCP/IP network architecture, which the Internet is based on, is such an open network architecture and it is adopted as a worldwide network standard and widely deployed in local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), small and large enterprises, and last, but not least, the Internet.

Mobile TechnologyLike it or loathe it, mobile computing can dramatically improve the service you offer to your customers. It provides flexibility in working, allowing people to work from home or off-site if travelling as well as access to important customer information at crucial times.
For example, when meeting with customers, it allows you to access your customer relationship management system over the Internet. More powerful solutions can link you directly into the office network allowing you to set up new customer accounts, check prices and stock availability or to place orders, for example.
The growth of ‘hot spots’ in public areas and cloud computing have supported these more flexible working practices. See our Private Cloud option.
